Some lesser known or unknown facts about Titanic

 Titanic, This word is enough to make us remember the incident of 15 April 1912. Most probably, we know everything about Titanic but there are some facts which are lesser known among people. So, we are here with some facts which might help you to increase your knowledge related to Titanic.

Some lesser known facts

1:- The cost of making Titanic movie was way higher than the actual cost of ship. The total cost of Titanic ship (as on 1912) was GB£1.5 million but it costed $200 million to make the movie.


2:- The youngest passenger and survivor of the RMS Titanic was Millvina Dean (1912 - 2009). She was only 2 months old when she boarded Titanic with her family. 


3:- The youngest passenger to die in the Titanic incident was only 13 months old. His name was Eino Viljami Panula, he was born on 10 march 1911. 


4:- As we know, Titanic was sank as it got hit with an iceberg at it's maiden voyage. But do you know that, The iceberg which sank Titanic started life as a snowflake 15000 years earlier.



5:- The most richest passenger boarded on Titanic was
John Jacob Astor iv. He was an American Business man with net worth of $87 million (as on 1912).


6:- As per the research, Titanic hitting the iceberg was not the only reason of it's sinking. A big mark was seen on the ship infront of the coal bunker room and it was believed that the area where mark is located is the same area where ship hit the iceberg. So, according to the experts the area was already partially damaged with the fire and hitting the iceberg caused the more damge.


7:- Around 30 engineers were there in the  Titanic but none of them survived. All the engineers tried their best to keep the power on as long as possible so that everyone could escape. 


8:- The Titanic was initially designed to equipped 64 life boats but it carried only 20. Many lifeboats carried half of their maximum capacity. Sources claimed many reasons for this which we will discuss in some other blog.


9:- It almost took 73 years to find the wreckage of Titanic ship after it sank in North Atlantic Ocean. The wreck of RMS Titanic lies at the depth of around 13000 feet.


10:- Titanic was the largest ship in the world. It was high as an fifteen story building.  The height of Titanic was 175 feet (53.3m).
